I took my history of civilization class(es) through areas other than History (ie. Political Science, Humanities, Music English...). Will it still count for the major's Hist. 201 and Hist 202 core requirement?
No. You must take the required Hist 201 and 202 classes.

Do I need to see my advisor about the history electives I am taking?
No, it is not necessary--just be sure that you fulfill the number of geographical areas that are required.

Does AP credit count within major? Even if it shows on my ABC report as fulfilled?
No, it does not count. It will still count for GE requirements and total hours towards graduation, but not for any of the classes that are required within the major.

Do I have to apply to the History Teaching major?
No. However, you do have to apply to get into Education program. Information about this application process can be found here.

Is D credit allowed?
It is allowed for History and Family History majors. It is NOT allowed for History Teaching majors (in the history or education classes). Keep in mind that you need to have at least a 2.0 GPA to graduate.

Can Hist. 202 count multiple times in G.E.?
Yes, on the "new" G.E. program (which began Fall 2004) it will fulfill the Civ 2 and Global and Cultural Awareness requirement.

Upon finishing the Family History degree, will I be a certified Genealogist?
No, certification is done through other private certifying entities, but you will be prepared to test and complete the certification process.
