Can 201 or 202 courses from another department substitute for the Pl Sc 201 and 202 requirement ?
It is recommended that Political Science majors take Poli Sci 201 and 202 in order to use these courses to fulfill GE and major requirements. Phil/Poli Sci 201 & 202 are the ONLY approved substitutes, even if you have taken a 201/202 in another area.

When will Poli Sci 205 be offered again?
Never. It was canceled.

Can AP credit count for the Major?
Yes. A score of 5 on the AP American Government and/or Comparative Government tests count for 110 and 150 respectively. However, students are required to take at least one upper-division elective in each subfield in which they substituted AP credit.

How many major courses must be taken while in residence at BYU?

If I do not take one of the 100 or 200 level courses, must I take content related upper division electives?

Yes.

How many credits can I get for an internship?
A maximum of 9 (no more than 6 hours of 399R and 3 hours of 391R).

What major courses double for University Core?

Pl Sc 110 & Econ 110 fulfills American Heritage (Econ 110 double counts to fulfill Social Science).
Choose from 15 different courses to fulfill Global and Cultural Awareness.
Pl Sc 200 & 400 level capstone fulfills Advanced Written/oral Communication.
Pl Sc 328 fulfills Languages of Learning.
Pl Sc 201 & 202 fulfill Civilization (202 double counts as a Letters).
