Do I have to take Psych 101, Orientation to the Psych major?
    Yes, it can't be waived, and must be taken in your 1st or 2nd semester at BYU.

Will my AP credit count for the Freshman Writing requirement in the Psych major?
    No, not the major requirement. Students who fulfill the Freshman Writing GE requirement through AP credit still need to take Engl 150 or Honors 150 to meet the psychology requirement.

Will Psych 301 fulfill the advanced math/language GE requirement?
    Yes, Psych 301, Psychological Statistics, will meet the advanced math/language GE requirement on the former GE program and current University Core program.

Can I substitute Stats 221 for Psych 301?
    No! Stat 221 will not meet the psych 301 requirement for the psych major.

Will I fulfill the advanced writing GE requirement through the Psych major?
    Students who took both Psych 302 and 304 between fall 04 and fall 07 will have satisfied this requirement. Students are now required to take Engl 315 as part of the major. This class will fulfill the advanced writing requirement.

How do the Cluster classes work?
    Take a total of 7 cluster classes, 4 of the 7 must be from one cluster including the required course. The other 3 classes will be taken from the remaining clusters. You do not need to take the required classes from the remaining clusters.

Will Psych 306, Psychology of Gender, count as a cluster class?
    It can count as a cluster class if students take a 2nd gender issues class. The advisor can make this substitution on the ABC report upon request.

How does the Senior Practicum; Psych 410/420/430, work?
    It is arranged through each individual professor (see class schedule). You can be a teaching assistant, research assistant, or help with special projects. The credits are variable from 1.0 to 8.0 hrs (you need 3.0 hrs to meet the requirement).

Is an internship required?
    No, but is recommended and can be used as Senior Practicum credit hours.
