Are there prerequisites in this major?
    Yes,
        Soc 111 is prerequisite to most other Soc courses
        Soc 300 is prerequisite to Soc 310
        Soc 310 is prerequisite to Soc 311
        Soc 311 is prerequisite to all 400 level Soc courses
        The sociology major will take a minimum of 5 semesters/terms

Can you tell me about the Research and Analysis emphasis in Sociology?
It is similar to the sociology major, but concentrates much more heavily on statistics, statistical computer programs, and research methods.  As of FALL 2007 this emphasis will NO LONGER exist due to the increased focus on statistics and research in the general sociology major, but any student who has officially declared this emphasis prior to fall 2007 may complete it.

Does the Sociology major require an internship?
No, an internship is not required, but students are strongly encouraged to participate in an internship or research experience as part of their educational experience.

Am I required to follow the “new” (2007-2008) sociology requirements?
If you officially declared the sociology major prior to Fall 2007, you may continue to follow the requirements on your progress report (or the “old” requirements). 

What class should I take for my Advanced Written and Oral Communication requirement?
English 312

Will Soc 306 fulfill the GE advanced math requirement?
No. However, stats 221 will count for Soc 306 and also fulfill the GE advanced math requirement.

Where is the Sociology teaching minor?  I can’t find it!
There is no longer a sociology teaching minor.  If you officially declared the minor prior to Fall 2007, you may complete the minor, but you can no longer declare it.
